About The Position

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is hiring a Registered Respiratory Therapist for its Columbia University Irving Medical Center campus. Under the direction of a licensed physician, the Respiratory Therapist performs respiratory treatments, therapies, and invasive and non-invasive procedures. The therapist clinically supervises and monitors Respiratory Technicians’ clinical activities as permitted by licensure law. The role also assists with transportation of intubated patients, with particular attention to maintaining airways and providing adequate ventilation and oxygenation. The therapist assesses respiratory therapy modalities and recommends changes and improvements to respiratory care delivery. This is a full-time position on a night flex schedule, 7:00 pm to 8:00 am, with weekend and holiday coverage. The role is on-site at NYP/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, 177 Fort Washington Avenue, New York, NY 10032. Employees are expected to live within commuting distance; travel expenses are not reimbursed.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in Applied Science and Respiratory Therapy.
Current New York State Respiratory Therapist License.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification (BCLS).

Nice To Haves

1–2 years of hospital-based experience.
Pediatric experience.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) certifications from the National Board for Respiratory Care.
