About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Columbus South is seeking a per diem/PRN Respiratory Therapist to provide inpatient post-ICU care to chronic, critically ill patients who require extended healing and recovery. Respiratory Therapists play a central role in delivering compassionate treatment to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.

The position offers 12-hour shifts, with day and night shifts available, and compensation of $45 per hour. A $7,500 sign-on bonus is offered for PRN. The hospital provides an extensive orientation program. Per diem employees may have opportunities to pursue full-time positions. Part-time and per diem employees are eligible for the employee assistance program and may qualify for the 401(k) after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• Must possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• Proof of graduation is required: college transcript/diploma, preferred, or high school transcript/diploma or GED.
• Must possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Current state licensure is required.
• ACLS is required upon hire; agency Respiratory Therapists must have ACLS by their first shift.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.
• College transcript or diploma is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
