About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Hampton Roads is hiring a Respiratory Therapist to provide inpatient respiratory care at its critical illness recovery hospital in Newport News, Virginia. The hospital provides post-ICU services to chronic and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. Respiratory Therapists help deliver compassionate treatment to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.

The position is full-time on nights, with compensation of $35.00–$47.10 and a $15,000 sign-on bonus. The hospital offers an extensive orientation program, career development opportunities, and benefits for eligible full-time team members.

Requirements

• Active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• Proof of graduation: college transcript or diploma preferred, or high school transcript or diploma, or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Current state licensure.
• ACLS certification within six months of hire. Agency RTs must have ACLS by their first shift; PRN staff must have ACLS upon hire.

• One year of related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
