About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with expertise in PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) and Acute Care. This role involves providing comprehensive respiratory care to critically ill pediatric patients. The successful candidate will have a strong background in ventilator management, airway management, and other critical respiratory therapies in a pediatric setting.

Requirements

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NBRC RRT Certification (National Board for Respiratory Care)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required for those working in L&D (Labor and Delivery), but can be obtained after offer
  • State License – Must have an active license or apply for a temporary license in Indiana
  • Pediatric ICU (PICU) experience required
  • NICU or Pediatric Respiratory Care experience
  • Ventilator management (including complex ventilator settings for pediatric patients)
  • Airway management, oxygen therapy, and pulmonary toileting skills
  • Ability to work independently in a critical care setting with minimal supervision
  • Ability to float across PICU, NICU, and Pediatrics units based on hospital needs

Nice To Haves

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Preferred
  • Children's Hospital experience in the last 3 years
  • L&D (Labor and Delivery) experience is a plus, as some responsibilities may involve neonatal care
  • Familiarity with Cerner or other hospital documentation systems
  • Trauma, Pediatric Emergency, or Intensive Care experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care in PICU, NICU, and Pediatrics settings
  • Manage ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, and other airway management therapies
  • Perform ABGs, pulmonary toileting, nebulizer treatments, and oxygen therapy
  • Administer medications related to respiratory care and assist in emergency interventions
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals for patient care
  • Float between PICU, NICU, and Pediatrics units based on the facility's needs
  • Maintain accurate patient records in the hospital's electronic health systems (Cerner, Epic, etc.)
  • Participate in Code Blue and other emergency situations when necessary
