About The Position

The Resource Specialist helps residents meet service and resource needs, including housing, vocational and educational services, transportation, and other social support services. The role is based at the High Desert Crisis Walk In Center in Victorville, California, and generally works Monday through Friday on the first shift.

The Valley Star Crisis Walk-In Center is a voluntary, unlocked 24/7 program serving children, adolescents, adults, and older adults who need immediate crisis mental health services. The center provides rapid mental health assessment and crisis intervention, with stays of up to 23 hours. Staff support people admitted to the crisis stabilization unit and help ensure a safe transition to the next level of care or back to the community.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mental Health.
• Four years of direct service experience with people with mental illness; experience with adults is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with individuals experiencing serious and persistent mental illness, team members, and the public.
• Valid California driver’s license and an eligible driving record under company policy.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual in Spanish.
• Class B driver’s license.
• Experience serving adults with mental illness.
