About The Position

Provides instruction and service for identified learning handicapped pupils who are assigned to the regular classroom for a majority of a school day. Instructional needs are based on the student's Individual Education Program (IEP) developed by the IEP team.

Requirements

  • Instructional needs based on the student's Individual Education Program (IEP).
  • Provide consultation, resource information, and material.
  • Coordinate special education services with regular school programs.
  • Monitor pupil progress.
  • Participate in review and revision of individualized education programs.
  • Refer pupils who do not indicate appropriate progress.

Responsibilities

  • Provides information and assistance to individuals with exceptional needs and to their parents.
  • Provides consultation, resource information, and material regarding individuals with exceptional needs to their parents and to regular staff members.
  • Coordinate the special education services with the regular school programs for each individual with exceptional needs enrolled in the Resource Specialist Program.
  • Monitors pupil progress on a regular basis, participates in the review and revision of individualized education programs as appropriate, and refers pupils who do not indicate appropriate progress to the Individualized Education Program aide(s).
