About The Position

This position is responsible for providing academic and vocational assessments, teaching basic academic subjects to students requiring remedial work, and using special help programs to improve scholastic level.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from four-year College or University. Major in Education or related field
  • Florida State Teacher certification or eligibility for certification
  • Minimum experience using personal computers and basic office equipment
  • Current Florida driver’s license
  • Must adhere to Agency Values and Principles.
  • Upholds the ethical standards of the Agency and 6B-1.001 Code of Ethics of the Education Profession in Florida.
  • Follows policies and procedures of the Agency
  • Must work evenings and weekends as required to fulfill workload requirements.
  • Must be able to travel by automobile, plane, train, etc.; occasional overnight travel may be required
  • Requires a Level II pre-employment background screening pursuant to Chapters 435, 984, 985 and 943, Florida Statutes, and the Department of Juvenile Justice policy and procedures.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Delivers instruction of core and elective subjects, applying lesson techniques designed for remedial students as required by Florida Sunshine Standards.
  • Develops and adjusts curriculum of core and elective subjects as required by Florida Sunshine Standards.
  • Confers with counselors and teaching staff to obtain additional testing information and to gain insight on student behavioral disorders affecting learning process; implements instructional strategies based on individual learning styles; fosters and facilitates the development of IAP goals.
  • Administers measurement tool during intake and ongoing to assess progress of girls.
  • Utilizes classroom management techniques that foster a gender responsive environment.
  • Administers the required standardized State or Pace testing.
  • Prepares individualized lesson plans and examinations in accordance with local and state standards.
  • Completes evaluations or course completion documentation in accordance with local school board or funding source mandates.
  • Networks with community resources to obtain quality services; monitors support services of outside agencies to provide care management intervention.
  • Participates in parent conferences as needed; prepares and participates in a care review meetings.
  • Recommends improvement that will enhance the overall academic delivery to students.
  • Communicates care management issues and provides progress update for individualized treatment plans.
  • Creates partnerships with outside agencies for appropriate services.
  • Adheres to established budget guidelines; manages existing resources wisely, including cleaning supplies, equipment purchases, and contractual arrangements.
  • Coordinates outside resources including speakers, support materials, field trips, etc.
  • Conducts intake interviews to assess needs of each student and family, ensures appropriate intervention.
  • Develops individualized transition and placement plans ensuring appropriate placement after transition.
  • Coordinates, supervises and evaluates volunteer tutors and other support services.
  • Plans and supervise extracurricular activities.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned
