About The Position

The Resource Center Manager is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the daily operations of a Community Food Bank Resource Center and for creating a welcoming environment where neighbors can access food and other supportive resources with dignity and care. This position oversees staff, food distribution, and site operations, while building community partnerships and supporting referrals that strengthen the Resource Center’s role as a trusted community hub. The Resource Center Manager leads assigned Community Food Bank (CFB) Resource Center as a community hub that connects neighbors to emergency food and other supportive resources. This role oversees daily site operations, builds relationships to understand community needs, develops partnerships with service providers, and supports referrals, tabling, and collaborative programming. The position works in consultation with CFB Programs, as relevant, to support coordinated service delivery and alignment with program goals. Travel may be required for outreach, visits to other CFB locations, community meetings, or organizational events.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of experience in program planning, implementation, community engagement, or service delivery.
  • Two (2) years of staff management or supervisory experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License with a clean driving record; ability to travel to CFB locations.
  • Ability to obtain food handling and electric pallet jack certification within 90 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Community Health, or a related field.
  • Background in Social Work, Public Health, Community Health, Case Management, or Human Services.
  • Experience connecting individuals or families to community resources and supportive services.
  • Experience working in community based organizations, nonprofits, or food banks.
  • Experience coordinating partner services, outreach events, or community based programming.
  • Experience operating electric pallet jacks, reach trucks, or similar warehouse equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Build trusted relationships with neighbors and community members in to better understand local needs, service gaps, and barriers to access.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the assigned Resource Center as a community hub that connects neighbors to food and other supportive services.
  • Coordinate opportunities for community partners to engage with neighbors through tabling events, outreach activities, and on site services.
  • Facilitate referrals to external organizations and services based on neighbor needs, including benefits access, housing resources, healthcare, employment supports, and other community services.
  • Create a welcoming and dignified environment where neighbors feel supported and connected to available resources.
  • Respond appropriately to neighbors who may be upset, frustrated, or in crisis.
  • Use de escalation skills and respectful communication to maintain a safe, welcoming, and dignified environment.
  • Support staff in handling difficult situations through clear communication, appropriate boundaries, and established escalation procedures.
  • Provide overall leadership, direction, and management of Resource Center operations at the assigned site.
  • Oversee daily pantry distribution, warehouse operations, inventory management, and administrative functions.
  • Ensure emergency food assistance is delivered safely, efficiently, and respectfully in alignment with CFB standards and mission.
  • Ensure proper food handling, storage, and distribution practices, including FIFO and FEFO where applicable.
  • Maintain facility readiness and operational efficiency to support food distribution and community engagement activities.
  • Work in consultation with Warehouse Operations, as relevant, to support inventory flow, product availability, and distribution coordination.
  • Work in consultation with Facilities, as relevant, to identify and address maintenance, safety, and site readiness needs.
  • Supervise Resource Center staff and provide consistent leadership through coaching, support, and performance management.
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful, and value-driven workplace culture aligned with CFB’s mission and core values.
  • Support staff training and professional development related to customer service, community engagement, and referrals.
  • Coordinate volunteer support to assist with Resource Center activities and operations.
  • Work in consultation with CFB Programs, to ensure alignment between Resource Center services and organizational programming.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to connect neighbors to appropriate CFB services and external community resources.
  • Support collaborative efforts that enhance service delivery and expand access to resources within the community.
  • Prepare annual budgets for Resource Center operations and monitor monthly and quarterly budget performance.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and tracking of program activity, community partnerships, and referrals.
  • Support data collection and reporting requirements related to program performance and service delivery.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming facility environment in compliance with health, safety, and legal regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with CFB policies and applicable food safety and operational standards.
  • Maintain proper documentation, signage, and procedures to support compliance and operational readiness.
  • Support compliance with applicable standards including AIB, DES, USDA, OSHA, Feeding America, and relevant local, state, and federal requirements, as applicable to site operations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support Resource Center operations and CFB’s mission.
