We are looking for a Residential Weatherization Energy Auditor to conduct in-home energy assessments, perform diagnostic testing, identify energy-saving opportunities, and develop comprehensive work scopes for weatherization crews and contractors. This position serves as the technical expert responsible for evaluating homes, creating measure recommendations, ensuring compliance with program requirements, and helping customers improve the comfort, safety, and efficiency of their homes through energy conservation measures. This version better reflects what your auditors actually do in the field, especially the responsibility for developing the work scope that drives the entire weatherization project.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in residential settings
  • Proficiency with tablets, software applications, and data entry systems
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • If applicable, meet all DOT qualification requirements and comply with all applicable federal, state, and local transportation regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in residential construction, weatherization, building performance, energy auditing, HVAC, insulation, or related field preferred
  • BPI certifications or weatherization experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive residential energy audits and home energy assessments
  • Perform diagnostic testing including blower door testing, combustion appliance zone (CAZ) testing, ventilation assessments, and other program-required testing
  • Evaluate homes for health, safety, durability, and energy efficiency opportunities
  • Develop detailed weatherization work scopes based on audit findings, program requirements, and cost-effectiveness guidelines
  • Identify and document recommended measures including air sealing, insulation, ventilation improvements, health and safety repairs, and energy conservation measures
  • Create clear and accurate job packets for weatherization crews and contractors
  • Collect field measurements, photographs, and required documentation to support audit findings and work scope development
  • Educate customers on energy-saving opportunities, health and safety concerns, and weatherization program benefits
  • Complete audit reports and submit documentation in accordance with program and quality control requirements
  • Coordinate with installers, contractors, quality control inspectors, and program staff to ensure work is completed as specified
  • Ensure all audits and work scopes comply with program standards, technical specifications, and applicable building science principles
