About The Position

The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board (HNNCSB) is seeking a Residential Treatment Supervisor to support the Southeastern Family Project (SEFP), a residential substance use disorder treatment program serving women, including non-pregnant women, pregnant women, and those who are recently postpartum, along with their infants. SEFP is a structured residential program aligned with ASAM Levels 3.5 and 3.1, offering comprehensive, gender-specific behavioral health services. The program is designed to provide a safe, therapeutic environment where women can focus on recovery, build life skills, and improve overall health and stability for themselves and their families. This leadership role combines clinical care, staff supervision, and program oversight. The selected candidate will have a direct impact on client outcomes, staff performance, and overall program quality, while ensuring compliance with clinical standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Human Services, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience working with individuals with substance use disorders or serious mental illness
  • Must be a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) in Virginia or eligible for CSAC Supervision Approval within 30 days of hire
  • Valid driver's license; ability to transport clients as needed
  • The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.

  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
  • Residential treatment experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage an active caseload, providing assessments, diagnostic evaluations, treatment planning, counseling (individual, group, and family), and discharge/aftercare planning
  • Conduct program eligibility screenings and monitor client progress throughout treatment
  • Supervise, train, and support residential staff, including assigning cases and evaluating performance
  • Ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of all clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory standards (including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2)
  • Respond to crises using sound clinical judgment to ensure the safety of clients and staff
  • Coordinate services with internal teams, community agencies, healthcare providers, and legal entities as needed
  • Facilitate educational groups, staff trainings, and client-centered programming
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and risk management activities
