About The Position

The Residential Property Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of assigned residential properties. This includes managing legal aspects, tenant relations, and coordinating with vendors. The role serves as the main point of contact for tenants, addressing their concerns and ensuring issues are resolved promptly. The manager will also coordinate with building staff and third-party vendors to maintain property conditions and complete repairs, ensuring compliance with all relevant NYC regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent experience in property management).
  • 3–5+ years of residential property management experience, preferably in NYC.
  • Strong knowledge of NYC housing regulations (HPD, DOB, rent stabilization/market-rate practices).
  • Experience with property management systems (MRI preferred).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple properties and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing mixed portfolios (walk-ups, multifamily).
  • Familiarity with legal processes related to housing court and tenant disputes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of assigned residential properties, including legal, tenant relations, and vendor coordination.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for tenants, addressing concerns and ensuring timely resolution of issues.
  • Coordinate with superintendents, porters, and third-party vendors to maintain building conditions and complete repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with NYC regulations, including HPD, DOB, and other agency requirements.
  • Monitor rent collections and arrears; coordinate with legal counsel on nonpayment or holdover proceedings.
  • Conduct regular property inspections and implement corrective action as needed.
  • Manage and track work orders and maintenance requests to ensure timely completion.
  • Assist with budgeting, expense tracking, and financial reporting in coordination with internal teams.
  • Support capital improvement projects and ensure proper execution and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate property records, tenant files, and reporting within MRI or related systems.
