About The Position

Vera French Community Mental Health Center is hiring a full-time Residential Nurse (RN or LPN) for a small, 15-bed setting serving people with mental and medical challenges. The nurse provides direction in nursing care, leads staff in implementing individual treatment plans and nursing practices, and helps deliver quality, accessible, and healthy living solutions. The position is available on first and second shifts.

Requirements

Associate degree in Nursing.
Valid Iowa license as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse.
Ability to relate in a respectful, constructive manner.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to pass a pre-employment physical with a drug and alcohol screen.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

Routinely function as the charge nurse and direct other personnel in performing their duties.
Within the limits of the Iowa Administrative Code, plan and direct other personnel in implementing independent and dependent nursing functions and interventions, using best nursing practices and individualized treatment plans as guidelines.
Provide leadership in delivering general nursing duties.
Accurately transcribe physician orders, administer medications and prescribed treatments, observe and report resident responses, and complete documentation.
Participate in developing and implementing resident treatment plans.
Provide teaching according to resident treatment plans.
Teach clients skills involving activities of daily living, community integration, functional, social, advocacy, and physical and emotional health.
Help maintain the safety of residents, staff, and visitors.
