About The Position

The Supportive Housing Program provides community-based services and supports designed to assist individuals who are Deaf, Blind, DeafBlind, and/or have other exceptionalities in living as independently as possible. Services are provided in a variety of community living settings, including a collaborative housing initiative with the Presbyterian Home for Children Inc. The program promotes independence, choice, self-determination, and successful community living through individualized support in areas such as home management, money management, independent living skills, and community integration. The Residential Manager serves as a primary point of contact for individuals participating in the program and provides and coordinates support services based on each individual’s needs and goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited school or program.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working directly with individuals in an educational or residential program.
  • Ability to pass suitability requirements for employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Rehabilitation, Social Work, or a closely related field.
  • Experience performing independent living skills assessments.
  • Sign language proficiency (SURVIVAL level within 12 months, INTERMEDIATE level within 30 months).
  • Braille competency (score of at least 80 percent within 30 months).
  • CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management (CPI) / Managing Crisis Safely (MCS) certifications within 12 months.
  • Orientation to Blindness training within 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Provide rehabilitation support services in independent living, home management, money management, and self-determination.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for residents enrolled in the Supportive Housing Program.
  • Assist in planning and participate in regional center activities, including White Cane Day, Deaf Awareness, educational workshops, social/community events, and statewide programs.
  • Assist with safety and security management through precautionary actions, routine inspections, emergency drills, and safety trainings.
  • Be on-call to assist with residential and consumer emergencies.
