About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Residential HVAC Service Technician to diagnose and repair heating and cooling systems in homes. This role requires a strong understanding of HVACR principles, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will be EPA 608 Universal Certified, possess a clean driving record, and have at least 2-3 years of experience in residential HVAC service.

Requirements

  • EPA 608 Universal Certification
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2–3 years of residential HVAC service experience
  • Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose and repair residential heating and cooling systems
  • Experience with gas furnaces, heat pumps, split systems, air handlers, and package units
  • Refrigerant recovery, recharge, and leak detection knowledge
  • Proficiency using manifold gauges, vacuum pumps, micron gauges, and leak detection equipment
  • Knowledge of proper refrigerant pressure readings and superheat/subcooling calculations
  • Experience with R-410A systems
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and manufacturer schematics
  • Testing and replacement of capacitors, contactors, control boards, motors, and relays
  • Safe use of multimeters and clamp meters for electrical troubleshooting
  • Diagnosis, repair, and seasonal maintenance of central A/C, heat pumps, gas furnaces, and mini-splits
  • Thermostat wiring, programming, and smart thermostat installation
  • Filter changes, evaporator and condenser coil cleaning, drain line maintenance
  • Annual tune-up and preventive maintenance inspections
  • Basic ductwork inspection, sealing, and minor modifications
  • Obtain replacement parts, calibrate systems, and communicate outcomes
  • Present and explain residential maintenance/service agreements
  • Experience using field service software (ServiceTitan, Successware, or similar)
  • Professional conduct in occupied homes
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces including attics, crawl spaces, and basements
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights safely
  • Able to work outdoors in extreme heat and cold
  • Able to kneel, bend, and work in awkward positions for extended periods
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability under pressure

Nice To Haves

  • HVACR trade school certificate or associate’s degree
  • Familiarity with A2L refrigerants (R-32, R-454B)
  • Brand experience: Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, or York
  • NATE specialty certification in Air Conditioning or Heat Pumps
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • Experience with ductless mini-split systems
  • R-454B / A2L refrigerant handling experience
  • Comfort with GPS dispatch and mobile scheduling apps

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair residential heating and cooling systems, including gas furnaces, heat pumps, split systems, air handlers, and package units.
  • Perform refrigerant recovery, recharge, and leak detection in compliance with EPA Section 608 regulations.
  • Use manifold gauges, vacuum pumps, micron gauges, and leak detection equipment for system analysis.
  • Calculate and interpret refrigerant pressure readings, superheat, and subcooling.
  • Troubleshoot and replace electrical components such as capacitors, contactors, control boards, motors, and relays using multimeters and clamp meters.
  • Perform seasonal maintenance, tune-ups, and preventive inspections on central A/C, heat pumps, gas furnaces, and mini-splits.
  • Install, wire, and program thermostats, including smart thermostats (Nest, Ecobee, Honeywell, etc.).
  • Conduct filter changes, clean evaporator and condenser coils, and perform drain line maintenance.
  • Inspect, seal, and make minor modifications to ductwork.
  • Obtain necessary replacement parts and calibrate systems to manufacturer specifications.
  • Communicate repair outcomes and recommendations clearly to homeowners.
  • Present and explain residential maintenance/service agreements to customers.
  • Utilize field service software (e.g., ServiceTitan, Successware) for work orders and invoicing.
  • Maintain professional conduct in occupied homes, ensuring courtesy, neatness, and respect for customer property.
