About The Position

The Residential Helper I rides on a vehicle and assists a Driver in providing prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services to customers on a designated residential route. The Helper safely loads waste and carries bags and containers to the vehicle for disposal, and assists the Driver in maneuvering the vehicle by directing the Driver from the ground. The position also helps maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle, route, and work area.

Responsibilities

• Ride on the vehicle to assist the Driver while servicing customers on a designated route.
• Operate the packing mechanism and various levers and handles to activate the lifting and loading mechanism.
• Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip; spray and clean the hopper and truck, if applicable.
• Perform complete pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections in accordance with Company policy and report safety issues on standard reports.
• Interact courteously with customers, dispatchers, and others to help ensure routes are serviced promptly and professionally.
• Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
• Clean the area around accidental waste spills while adhering to applicable safety standards and policies.
• Maintain required departmental productivity standards so customers are serviced efficiently and promptly.
• Follow required safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
