About The Position

The Residential Helper rides on a vehicle and assists a Driver in providing prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services to customers on a designated residential route. The role safely loads waste and carries bags and containers to the vehicle for disposal. The Helper also guides the Driver from the ground while the vehicle is maneuvered and helps maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle, route, and work area. The position requires following safety policies and procedures, maintaining productivity standards, monitoring waste for unacceptable materials, and communicating courteously with customers and coworkers. Other job-related duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

Ride on the vehicle and assist the Driver while servicing customers on a designated route.
Operate the packing mechanism and various levers and handles to activate the lifting and loading mechanism.
Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip; spray and clean the hopper and truck, if applicable.
Complete pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections in accordance with Company policy and report safety issues on standard reports.
Interact courteously with customers, dispatchers, and others to ensure routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner.
Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
Clean the area around accidental waste spills while adhering to applicable safety standards and policies.
Maintain required department productivity standards so customers are serviced in a timely and efficient manner.
Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
