About The Position

ReVireo is seeking a Residential Energy Efficiency Inspector to conduct onsite inspections and tests to assess the energy efficiency of new homes. This field-based role involves quantitative data collection, such as measuring HVAC duct leakage and whole-house envelope leakage, as well as qualitative data collection, such as identifying construction materials and taking photos. After a training and certification period, the employee will travel to construction sites daily, conduct inspections and/or tests, record results, and communicate findings with the construction manager. The role requires learning construction techniques, building science, energy efficiency terminology, and client communication. The employee will become proficient with inspection equipment and testing procedures.

Requirements

  • Located in Central New Jersey.
  • Ability to travel throughout the State of New Jersey, primarily in Central New Jersey (Middlesex, Monmouth, and Mercer counties).
  • Willingness to occasionally perform work in other states.
  • Willingness to travel to ReVireo’s headquarters in Springfield, New Jersey, for training, meetings, and other events/needs.
  • Has own vehicle, driver’s license, and car insurance.
  • Willing to use own vehicle to travel daily for work (compensated at IRS standard mileage rate).
  • Willing to drive long distances (occasionally a site may be 2+ hours away).
  • Willing to transport ReVireo’s inspection equipment to inspections.
  • Comfortable with using a tablet, Microsoft Office, a cell phone, and basic data entry.
  • Can lift and carry at least 40 pounds.
  • Comfortable on a ladder.
  • Comfortable standing or walking for extended periods of time.
  • Works well independently and manages time efficiently.
  • Enjoys meeting new people and developing relationships with clients on site.
  • English language proficiency required.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate degree or equivalent is preferred.
  • RESNET Rating Field Inspector (RFI) or Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Rater credential is preferred.
  • Training from Building Performance Institute (BPI) is preferred.
  • Experience in building construction – particularly residential construction.
  • Experience with HVAC systems.
  • Experience reading and interpreting architectural and mechanical plans/drawings.
  • Experience with energy efficiency.
