About The Position

ReVireo is seeking a Residential Energy Efficiency Inspector to conduct onsite inspections and tests to assess the energy efficiency of new homes. This field-based role involves quantitative data collection (e.g., HVAC duct leakage, whole-house envelope leakage) and qualitative data collection (e.g., identifying construction materials, taking photos). The employee will travel to construction sites, perform inspections and tests, record results, and communicate findings to the construction manager. The role requires learning construction techniques, building science, energy efficiency terminology, and operating inspection equipment. ReVireo provides all inspection equipment and materials. The position is located in Central New Jersey, with travel throughout the state and occasional travel to ReVireo's headquarters in Springfield, NJ. Occasional work in other states may be required.

Requirements

Located in Central New Jersey.
Ability to work in and travel throughout the State of New Jersey, primarily in Central New Jersey (Middlesex, Monmouth, and Mercer counties).
Own vehicle, driver’s license, and car insurance.
Willing to use own vehicle to travel daily for work (compensated at IRS standard mileage rate).
Willing to drive long distances (occasionally a site may be 2+ hours away).
Willing to transport ReVireo’s inspection equipment to inspections.
Comfortable with using a tablet, Microsoft Office, a cell phone, and basic data entry.
Ability to lift and carry at least 40 pounds.
Comfortable on a ladder.
Comfortable standing or walking for extended periods of time.
Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
Enjoys meeting new people and developing relationships with clients on site.
English language proficiency (Required).
Driver's License (Required).

Nice To Haves

An Associate degree or equivalent is preferred.
A RESNET Rating Field Inspector (RFI) or Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Rater credential is preferred.
Any training from Building Performance Institute (BPI) is preferred.
Experience in building construction – particularly residential construction.
Experience with HVAC systems.
Experience reading and interpreting architectural and mechanical plans/drawings.
Experience in energy efficiency.

Responsibilities

Conduct onsite inspections and tests to assess the energy efficiency of new homes.
Perform quantitative data collection, such as measuring HVAC duct leakage and whole-house envelope leakage.
Perform qualitative data collection, such as identifying construction materials and taking photos of the home.
Travel to assigned construction sites daily.
Record inspection and test results.
Communicate issues, recommendations, and results with the construction manager.
Learn and utilize construction techniques, building science, energy efficiency terminology, and construction timelines.
Develop communication skills with clients on site.
Become familiar with inspection equipment and testing procedures.
Prepare units for inspection and diagnose test-related issues.
Operate a personal vehicle for transportation to job sites.
Occasionally perform work in other states.
Occasionally travel to ReVireo’s headquarters for training, meetings, and other events.
