About The Position

The Residential Dining Manager provides management oversight of a residential dining operation to ensure high-quality performance across all activities. This position manages, directs, plans, organizes, and supervises dining staff in collaboration with the executive chef of the assigned servery while meeting financial objectives. The Residential Dining Manager serves as a liaison between the department and students, faculty, and staff. Deliver high-quality tenant and guest services through excellent communication, planning, and oversight.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (In lieu of the education requirement, additional related experience, above and beyond what is required, may be substituted on an equivalent year-for-year basis.)
  • Three or more (3+) years of dining administrative experience (In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education, above and beyond what is required, may be substituted on an equivalent year-for-year basis.)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to deal effectively with multiple priorities on a timely basis
  • Communicate effectively with employees and customers
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Must handle multiple projects and stressful situations in a positive manner

Responsibilities

  • Provides management oversight of a residential dining operation to ensure high-quality performance across all activities.
  • Manages, directs, plans, organizes, and supervises dining staff in collaboration with the executive chef of the assigned servery while meeting financial objectives.
  • Serves as a liaison between the department and students, faculty, and staff.
  • Delivers high-quality tenant and guest services through excellent communication, planning, and oversight.
  • Supervises dining staff that may include cooks, dishwashers, cashiers, and temporary employees.
  • Monitors work, behavior, and may give direction to custodial, maintenance, and food service staff.
  • Functions as a liaison to their direct supervisors.
  • Enforces safety rules and regulations; investigates accidents and incidents, and fills out the accident/incident reports.
  • Prepares yearly staff performance appraisals.
  • Strategic planning and ability to provide direction towards department and university goals.
  • Establishes priorities and identifies and resolves problems that are administrative in nature.
  • Researches and / or writes background information for meetings.
  • Oversees the coordination of complex events and programs.
  • Composes documents for presentations, communications, and reports; performs substantial research, editing, and fact checking.
  • Creates complex reports and spreadsheets.
  • Oversees and processes a variety of complex financial transactions; produces, monitors, and reconciles budget statements, researches, identifies, and resolves discrepancies.
  • May assist with capital or special equipment requests and/or vendor selection.
  • Coordinates complex office moves.
  • Plans and coordinates routine remodeling and renovations.
  • Analyzes and reviews material and extracts pertinent information for briefing purposes.
  • Performs human resources transactional support; coordinates or manages the visa process.
  • Guides and trains student workers including scheduling, assigning, and prioritizing workloads, setting appropriate deadlines, and reviewing work for quality and timeliness.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Vendor/service partner performance tracking.
  • Financial support of the operation includes cost tracking, and invoice reconciliation.
  • Sustainability coordination including waste tracking, composting, and local sourcing.
  • Recurring FOH quality-assurance reviews and periodic allergen/dietary labeling audits.
  • Regular operational change summaries to college leadership.
  • FOH smallware/disposables inventory assessments and replenishment.
