Residential Counselor MAP
About The Position
BAMSI is hiring a Residential Counselor for a Group Living Environment (GLE) at East Main 2. The role provides rehabilitative support to adults, helping residents build daily living skills and participate in their communities. The counselor teaches activities of daily living and socialization skills, implements treatment plans and behavioral interventions under clinician guidance, administers or supervises medications in accordance with MAP guidelines, transports residents to appointments and community activities, advocates for residents, and maintains a safe, clean home environment with timely documentation. The schedule is 30 hours per week, Friday through Sunday, 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. The position is non-exempt and pays $20–$23.75.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to assist with mobility, including bending and standing.
- Strong English communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Compassion, patience, and commitment to trauma-informed care.

- Multilingual abilities, such as Spanish or Portuguese.
Responsibilities
- Teach residents activities of daily living, including cooking, budgeting, and medication management, as well as socialization skills.
- Implement treatment plans and behavioral interventions under clinician guidance.
- Administer or supervise medications according to MAP guidelines and document care.
- Transport residents to appointments and community activities.
- Advocate for residents’ needs and model healthy coping strategies.
- Maintain a safe, clean home environment and complete documentation in a timely manner.
