About The Position

BAMSI is seeking a Residential Counselor to provide rehabilitative support to adults in Group Living Environments (GLE), fostering skills for daily living and community integration. This role requires candidates to be MAP (Medication Administration Program) certified or willing to obtain certification within 3 months through employer-provided training. Responsibilities include teaching ADLs such as cooking, budgeting, and medication management, implementing treatment plans, administering and supervising medications, transporting residents, advocating for residents' needs, and maintaining a safe and documented environment.

Requirements

  • MAP (Medication Administration Program) certification is required for this position. Candidates without current certification must be willing to complete employer-provided training and successfully obtain certification within 3 months.
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Direct care experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to assist with mobility (bending, standing, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills (English) and basic computer proficiency.
  • Compassion, patience, and commitment to trauma-informed care.

  • Lived experience or multilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese).

Responsibilities

  • Provide rehabilitative support to adults in Group Living Environments (GLE), fostering skills for daily living and community integration.
  • Teach ADLs (cooking, budgeting, medication management) and socialization skills.
  • Implement Treatment Plans and behavioral interventions under clinician guidance.
  • Administer/supervise medications by MAP guidelines and document care.
  • Transport residents to appointments and community activities.
  • Advocate for residents’ needs and model healthy coping strategies.
  • Maintain a safe, clean home environment and complete timely documentation.
