About The Position

The Residential Assistant works under supervision to help ensure residents’ day-to-day needs are met in accordance with Exceptional Children’s Foundation (ECF) policies and regulatory requirements for licensed residential facilities. The position serves adults with varying degrees of developmental and physical disabilities in ICF/DDH and ICF/DDN group homes. Four positions are available across full-time and part-time shifts. Work hours are assigned by a supervisor and may change according to the needs of the home. The role has no supervisory responsibility and is non-exempt, with compensation of $18.47–$20.00 per hour. Employees provide respectful personal care, support residents’ individual service and program plans, administer medication, document care, assist with meals and household tasks, and transport residents to appointments and social activities. Staff must follow assigned schedules, cleaning procedures, licensing requirements, and ECF policies. This is a 24-hour licensed residential home that remains open during holidays; employees are generally expected to work their regular shifts on holidays unless other arrangements are made. Staff on duty must remain on the premises and available to assist residents. The work environment may involve residents experiencing emotional or psychological distress or behaving aggressively, frequent interruptions, loud noise, varying indoor temperatures, drafts, and exposure to changing weather while driving. The role requires physical assistance and resident transfers, including lifting or moving up to 50 pounds, as well as operating a 12–15-passenger van. Pre-employment and annual physicals and an initial and recurring TB test are required. Employment is at-will. ECF identifies itself as an equal opportunity employer and states its mission is to support independence, belonging, and community.
