About The Position

The Resident Transport role arranges and provides transportation for residents to diagnostic and therapeutic services, such as laboratory and X-ray appointments. The position also supports telephone and visitor routing, resident admissions, transfers, and discharges, and helps protect confidential medical-record information. The employee may assist the Medical Records Designee and perform other duties as directed by nursing or administrative supervision.

Requirements

• Excellent computer skills.
• Strong background in medical terminology.
• Ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Arrange resident appointments and transportation for diagnostic and therapeutic services, including laboratory and X-ray services.
• Answer telephone calls, route calls, and direct visitors to resident rooms.
• Assist with admitting, transferring, and discharging residents, including arranging transportation, managing belongings, and escorting residents to the discharge or transfer area.
• Protect medical-record information physically and maintain its confidentiality according to HIPPA.
• Assist the Medical Records Designee as necessary.
• Take actions necessary for residents’ health, safety, and welfare.
• Perform other related duties as directed by nursing or administrative supervision.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude and behaviors while contributing to the overall success of the company.
• Perform other activities as assigned by the supervisor.
