About The Position

Under general direction, this role coordinates resident service activities, acting as a liaison between the Housing Authority and outside agencies. The position plans, develops, and implements programs to provide human services to low-income, elderly, or handicapped/disabled individuals residing in and around HACLA-owned developments, surrounding communities, or in public/affordable housing. Performs related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration, Psychology, Sociology or related field.
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in community or social services delivery providing assistance to a vulnerable population such as the elderly and people with disabilities in any of the following fields: public and/or affordable housing, social welfare, public health, employment service, counseling, vocational guidance, or a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • The use of computer software applications.
  • The use of various office equipment.
  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated working knowledge, training and experience of local services for the elderly and people with disabilities.
  • The ability to communicate fluently in more than one language is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Research, develop, and maintain a network of service providers and local community resources to serve as a liaison between the Housing Authority and outside agencies.
  • Plan, develop, and carry out action plans to provide human services to low-income, elderly, or handicapped/disabled persons.
  • Provide brief case management, advocacy, and counseling.
  • Establish and maintain good tenant and staff relations.
  • Identify and assess individuals who are frail and/or at-risk.
  • Coordinate annual Resident Self-Assessment.
  • Collaborate with facility management staff.
  • Document all incidents related to resident’s condition/situation.
  • Prepare weekly activity reports and various documents as required by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
  • Organize educational events on available social/health program/service availability, care giver issues, resident rights, etc., by providing workshops, seminars, drug/health fairs.
  • Establish and maintain visibility within the community through professional networking and advocacy groups.
  • Attend and actively participate in required Resident Service Coordinator training programs and conferences.
