About The Position

The Resident Services Coordinator (RSC) supports individuals and families residing in Nesika Illahee, a 59 unit culturally specific housing community located in Portland’s Cully Neighborhood. Working both independently and collaboratively with NARA Northwest teams and partner agencies—including the Native American Youth and Family Center (NAYA) and the Siletz Tribal Housing Department—the RSC provides onsite, community-based, and home-based services designed to help residents stabilize their housing, improve their health and wellness, and progress in their recovery. This role centers culturally grounded, trauma-informed, and person centered support for Native community members and other residents.

Requirements

  • Either High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certification required.
  • Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA) or Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) or Peer Support Specialist (PSS) credential required with six months of hire date.
  • Professional experience working with individuals in recovery from a substance use disorder.
  • Knowledge of local social service resources and programs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of recovery-based, holistic approaches to addressing behavioral health needs.
  • Knowledge and skill in working in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests.
  • Ability to pass criminal background and DMV checks.

Nice To Haves

  • CADC or equivalent highly desirable.
  • Experience working with Native American/ Alaska Native community is considered a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized, culturally responsive case management to support housing stability and recovery goals.
  • Conduct regular home visits, wellness check-ins, and service planning sessions with residents.
  • Support residents in understanding lease requirements, resolving concerns with property management, and preventing eviction.
  • Assist residents with navigating barriers such as financial challenges, transportation, documentation needs, or care coordination.
  • Connect residents to appropriate community resources, including: physical and behavioral healthcare, addiction recovery services (treatment services and/or detox), mental health supports, employment and education programs, cultural, spiritual, and community-based services.
  • Advocate for residents with service providers, case workers, and partners to ensure their needs are heard and addressed.
  • Plan and facilitate community-building events, and activities that promote cultural identity, wellness, and recovery.
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive, and respectful community environment among residents.
  • Respond to urgent resident concerns and assist with de escalation as needed.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, property management, and emergency or behavioral health partners during crises impacting resident safety or stability.
  • Work closely with NARA Northwest programs (behavioral health, recovery, youth services, etc.) to support holistic resident care.
  • Coordinate with CDP, NAYA, the Siletz Tribal Housing Department, and community partners to align services and ensure culturally specific support is provided.
