About The Position

Lutheran Haven is seeking a Resident Engagement Assistant, also referred to as an Activities Assistant, to help create meaningful and engaging days for older adults. The role supports a variety of recreational, social, intellectual, emotional, physical, and spiritual activities based on residents’ interests, abilities, assessments, and care plans. The position involves helping residents feel connected, included, valued, and respected through group activities, individual companionship, exercise, celebrations, and other experiences.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, in Oviedo, Florida. The employee will support Lutheran Haven’s mission through compassionate, respectful care. Staff work in a variety of locations, including private homes, assisted living apartments, and the organization’s campus and grounds. Successful candidates must complete a Level II Criminal Background check. Lutheran Haven participates in E-Verify.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work collaboratively and treat residents, families, and coworkers with respect.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of experience working in a long-term care or senior living environment.
• CNA certification.
• CPR certification.
• Experience planning or leading recreational, social, fitness, or group activities.

Responsibilities

• Help plan and lead engaging group and individual activities.
• Encourage residents to participate and create an environment where everyone feels welcome.
• Lead physical exercise and stimulation activities.
• Organize seasonal celebrations and activities around traditional holidays and special events.
• Decorate common areas and maintain bulletin boards and monthly activity calendars.
• Spend one-on-one time with residents who may benefit from additional encouragement or companionship.
• Observe and document resident participation, mood, behavior, and engagement.
• Safely transport residents to activities and events within the facility.
• Keep activity spaces organized and welcoming, and ensure supplies are stocked.
• Deliver and read mail to residents when needed.
• Attend required training and in-services.
• Support Lutheran Haven’s mission and ministry through compassionate, respectful care.
