About The Position

Elderwood At Cheektowaga Assisted Living is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join its clinical team. The Resident Care Supervisor provides nursing care to support residents’ general health and well-being in an assisted living facility. The role assists with medication administration and monitors personal care services provided by Resident Assistants. It also reports residents’ care needs and changes in condition to the appropriate staff. Assisted living communities promote resident independence while providing assistance with daily needs, medication management, personal care, and health services.

Requirements

Current state license and credentials as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Organizational skills and ability to supervise department staff effectively and work well with personnel from other departments.
Ability to maintain high standards of care.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate or more advanced level.

Nice To Haves

Experience in geriatric nursing is preferred.

Responsibilities

Supervise, administer, and/or assist with medications for assigned residents; monitor residents participating in the self-medication program each month.
Monitor the personal care provided by Resident Assistants.
Assist Resident Assistants with residents’ direct care as needed.
Report residents’ changes in condition, daily needs, and progress to the Director of Nursing.
Follow each resident’s plan of care.
Receive, store, and distribute controlled-substance medications, and ensure medication stored by the facility—including in the medication cart and medication-room refrigerator—is properly placed and used.
Maintain documentation of resident care in case notes, Medication Administration Records, and other required records.
Help resolve staffing, supply, and resident-care issues during the shift.
Maintain resident-care standards and respect residents’ rights and preferences in care and treatment.
Receive and store lost-and-found articles and notify the Director of Nursing and/or Case Manager.
Treat residents with respect and kindness at all times.
