LPN - Resident Care Supervisor
About The Position
Elderwood Village at Colonie is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), also known as a Resident Care Supervisor, to oversee high-quality resident care in its 94-bed assisted living community. The role combines clinical nursing, leadership, and resident relationships in a collaborative, resident-centered environment. The nurse supports Resident Care Aides, ensures safe medication administration, and works with the Director of Nursing and interdisciplinary team to help residents maintain independence, health, comfort, and well-being. Newly licensed nurses are encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- Current state license and credentials as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Organizational skills and the ability to supervise department staff effectively and work well with personnel in other departments.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate or more advanced level.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in geriatric nursing.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, administer, and/or assist with medications for assigned residents; monitor residents participating in the self-medication program monthly.
- Monitor personal care provided by Resident Assistants.
- Assist Resident Assistants with residents’ direct care as necessary.
- Report residents’ changes in condition, daily needs, and progress to the Director of Nursing.
- Follow each resident’s plan of care.
- Manage receiving, storing, and distributing controlled-substance medications, and ensure proper placement and use of facility-stored medication, including the medication cart and medication-room refrigerator.
- Maintain documentation of care in Case Notes, Medication Administration Records, and other required records.
- Assist with problem-solving related to staffing, supplies, and resident care during the shift.
- Maintain resident-care standards and respect residents’ rights and preferences in care and treatment.
- Receive and store lost-and-found articles and notify the Director of Nursing and/or Case Manager.
- Treat residents with respect and kindness at all times.
