About The Position

The Resident Care Assistant provides compassionate personal care, supports daily activities, and assists residents in assisted living and memory care areas. The role helps create a safe, warm, and nurturing environment where residents feel valued and supported. This is a part-time position scheduled for 19 hours per week on the first shift, 6:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. The schedule varies Monday through Friday and includes every other weekend. No scheduling mandation is required. A weekend shift premium of $0.50 applies from Friday at 11:00 p.m. through Sunday at 10:59 p.m. The position is in the Memory Support department at Porter Hills Village in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with compensation of $17.51–$19.64 per hour.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a caregiver role.
• Experience with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Previous working knowledge of an Electronic Medication Administration Records (EMAR) system.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal care activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
• Help residents with meals and hydration.
• Support mobility, including turning, positioning, and safe transfers.
• Measure and record vital signs, weight, and intake and output.
• Keep residents’ rooms tidy, comfortable, and stocked with essentials.
• Respond promptly and compassionately to call lights.
• Report changes in residents’ conditions to leadership as soon as possible.
• Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate respect and professionalism while providing care.
