The overall purpose of the Resident Associate is to provide personal care to residents in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort. This role involves assisting residents with daily personal care, following service plans for grooming, bathing, toileting, oral care, communication, locomotion, hearing, and transportation. The position also includes light housekeeping, meal preparation, dishwashing, and assisting with dining. The Resident Associate promotes resident independence, advises the nurse of changes in resident status, contributes to resident assessments, and documents observations. They are responsible for completing incident reports, promoting a safe environment, and complying with lifting and transfer policies. The role requires functioning within legal limits, consulting with the nurse as needed, and demonstrating competency in required skills. Working contacts include residents, families, medical professionals, and staff.
