About The Position

Resident Assistants are an essential part of the wellness team, providing basic personal assistance to residents to help maintain their highest level of functional independence and psychosocial wellness under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN). At American House, the Resident Assistant supports seniors, enriches their lives, and helps them live with dignity, comfort, and independence. The role includes supporting daily care needs and community activities while creating a safe, warm, and welcoming environment.

Requirements

• A passion for serving seniors and a compassionate, patient approach.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Previous caregiving, senior living, or healthcare experience is required.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25–50 lbs as needed for resident care.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and report observations to leadership.
• Encourage resident engagement in activities, programs, and social events.
• Follow individualized care plans to provide high-quality, person-centered care.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment in resident apartments and common areas.
• Support residents with meals, hydration, and light housekeeping.
• Build positive, respectful relationships with residents, families, and team members.
• Support new resident orientation and help new residents feel welcome in the community.
