About The Position

The Resident Assistant provides personal care and designated health-related services to support or maintain residents’ physical and emotional well-being at Northern Lakes Senior Living, an Assisted and Memory Care community in Baxter, Minnesota. The role includes comprehensive paid training to pass medications, which is part of the regular duties. The schedule is 72 hours every two weeks, on day shift, with every-other-weekend Saturday/Sunday work and a holiday rotation.

Requirements

Required experience: less than one year.
Ability to use computers, handheld devices, cell phones, and fax machines.
If under 18, must be on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry; the site must be able to manage the restrictions that the employee cannot pass medications or independently operate a mechanical lift.

Nice To Haves

One to three years of experience.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with personal care, including bathing and showering, foot and fingernail care, shaving, dressing, use of hearing aids or glasses, hair care, feeding, toileting, escorts, transfers, and use of a mechanical lift.
Provide treatments according to individualized care plans under the direction of a Registered Nurse, including blood glucose monitoring.
Administer or assist with medications under the direction of a Registered Nurse, including insulin injections.
Take and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Perform laundry services according to schedule and follow the cleaning schedule for the shift.
Deliver meal trays and assist with meal service in the dining room.
Assist with preparing for or facilitating resident social and recreational activities as assigned or requested.
Observe residents and report their status to appropriate staff.
Notify appropriate staff of changes in residents’ physical or emotional conditions, including changes in attitude or mood, loss of appetite, or weight changes.
Serve as a mandated reporter and report concerns about potential mistreatment.
Offer pertinent observations and input.
Respond appropriately to resident and building emergencies.
