About The Position

The Resident Assistant/Caregiver provides personal care and designated health-related services to support or maintain assisted living residents’ physical and emotional well-being. The position includes training to qualify to pass medications. The role is based at Deephaven Woods Senior Living, an Ebenezer-managed community in Deephaven, Minnesota, serving residents in independent living, assisted living, memory care, and enhanced assisted living across 78 units.

This is a part-time position scheduled for 20 hours over two weeks in four-hour morning shifts. Week 1 shifts are Monday, Saturday, and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.; Week 2 shifts are Monday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Requirements

• Ability to use computers, handheld devices, cell phones, and fax machines.
• If under 18, must be on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry; the site must be able to accommodate restrictions preventing the employee from passing medications or independently operating a mechanical lift.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal care, including bathing or showering, foot and fingernail care, shaving, dressing, use of hearing aids or glasses, hair care, feeding, toileting, and escorts.
• Assist with one- or two-person transfers and use mechanical lifts.
• Provide health-related services and treatments according to individualized care plans and under the direction of a Registered Nurse, including blood glucose monitoring.
• Administer or assist with medications under the direction of a Registered Nurse, including insulin injections.
• Take and record residents’ temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Perform laundry and cleaning tasks according to the applicable schedules.
• Deliver meal trays and assist with meal service in the dining room.
• Help prepare for or facilitate resident social and recreational activities as assigned or requested.
• Observe residents and report their status to appropriate staff.
• Notify appropriate staff about changes in residents’ physical or emotional conditions, including changes in attitude or mood, appetite, or weight.
• Act as a mandated reporter and report concerns about potential mistreatment.
• Provide relevant observations and input.
• Respond appropriately to resident and building emergencies.
