About The Position

The Resident Assistant, Medication Aide provides care and services to residents, including medication assistance or administration, healthcare services, and assistance with activities of daily living. The role is performed in a caring, safe, and efficient manner and follows the standards and procedures of the location. The position is part-time, scheduled for 20 hours per week on 8-hour evening shifts at Good Samaritan Westview Acres.

Requirements

Complete and maintain the assigned medication administration training program and competencies according to state guidelines.
Meet the minimum state age requirement if working at a facility that uses a lift to move residents.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with self-administration of medications and, with proper training, administer medications.
Assist residents with personal appearance, bathing, and cleanliness of all body areas.
Help residents with toileting, dressing, and undressing.
Assist residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking.
Accurately obtain vital signs and report changes in residents’ health status.
Follow OSHA and CDC guidance and aseptic cleaning techniques to minimize infections, including precautions for blood-borne pathogens.
Use chemicals safely and follow SDS guidelines in the event of exposure.
Help prepare and serve nutritious, appealing meals and snacks according to orders, standards, and regulations.
Fold, hang, and distribute clean linens and personal clothing; prepare and launder soiled linens and clothing.
Clean residents’ rooms and bathrooms, work areas, and other public areas.
Participate in community involvement at the location and work with volunteers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
