About The Position

At Shelterhouse, we believe everyone deserves safety, dignity, and support. We are a community of residents, staff, and volunteers working together to provide essential services for men and women experiencing homelessness in Greater Cincinnati. We are seeking a Resident Aide who is compassionate, dependable, and ready to make a difference in the lives of others. In this role, you will help create a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for residents during their shelter stay.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Availability to work 2nd ( 3:30 pm to 11:30 pm )or 3rd Shift. (11:30 pm to 7:30 am)
  • Strong attendance and reliability.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • 1+ year of customer service or related experience required
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as scheduled
  • Must be available to work 40 hours per week onsite

Nice To Haves

  • Training, education, or experience in Human Services, Social Services, Behavioral Health, or a related field.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, substance use disorders, or other vulnerable populations.
  • Experience in residential, shelter, healthcare, or community-based environments.
  • Experience working with homeless, behavioral health, addiction recovery, or human services populations preferred
  • CPR, First Aid, and NARCAN training preferred or willingness to obtain
  • Knowledge or experience working with homeless, mentally ill, or substance-abusing populations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Welcome new residents and provide orientation to shelter services, expectations, and available resources.
  • Support residents with day-to-day needs by providing information, basic assistance, and access to supplies/services.
  • Build positive relationships with residents while encouraging personal responsibility and participation in assigned chores and shelter groups.
  • Accurately document resident interactions, incidents, and services in VESTA and other required systems.
  • Monitor the shelter environment to help ensure safety, cleanliness, and adherence to community guidelines.
  • Respond calmly and professionally in crisis or emergency situations.
  • Partner with coworkers and leadership to provide quality resident care and support overall shelter operations.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by leadership.
