About The Position

The Doe Fund is seeking a Residence Manager for its newest permanent supportive housing program designed for homeless men and women living with HIV/AIDS. This program offers long-term residential care and 24-hour support services in a community environment aimed at maximizing resident independence while ensuring their physical and emotional security. The program serves both individuals referred by the New York City HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA) and low-income households. The Residence Manager will oversee facility operations and resident supervision during designated shifts, collaborating with the Clinical team and Program Director to meet resident needs and maintain facility safety. Strong communication skills and experience with the HIV/AIDS population are essential.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • At least two years of experience working in social service, residential setting
  • Working knowledge of HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, mental illness, and homelessness
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Computer skills – internet and Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Some college preferred
  • Fire Safety certification (F-02 or F-80) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage challenging situations and/or crises that may occur at the facility
  • Function as a liaison between the residents and the staff
  • Collaborate with the security staff during the tour of duty to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents
  • Handle any incidents that may occur at the facility and completing an Incident Report Form, as needed
  • Communicate noteworthy events to the Program Director and the Clinical team as well as document them in the appropriate logbook
  • Attend all mandatory staff meetings
  • Ensure all aspects of the Fire Alarm System (FAS) are working properly and are up to code with FDNY
  • Visually inspect and document all components of the FAS
  • Conduct and document quarterly fire drills
  • Other duties as assigned
