Our flagship workforce development program, Ready, Willing & Able (RWA), operates across 660 transitional housing beds and combines housing and comprehensive supportive services with paid work training, career preparation, and occupational skills training. The Doe Fund’s innovative social enterprise model creates additional opportunities for New Yorkers to gain paid, hands-on experience while delivering essential services across the city, including supplemental sanitation, graffiti removal, and rain garden maintenance. We are also one of New York City’s largest nonprofit developers of permanent affordable and supportive housing, with more than 2,100 apartments in operation or development, creating safe, dignified homes with supportive services and spaces that foster community and connection. The Doe Fund has an annual operating budget of $88 million and a full-time staff of over 500, a significant portion of whom are graduates of our programs. We are seeking a Part-Time Resident Manager for The Doe Fund's newest permanent supportive housing for homeless individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS. The program is designed to provide long-term residential care and twenty-four-hour support services in a community environment that maximizes residents' independence while ensuring their physical and emotional security and well-being. This 255-unit residence will provide housing for 153 individuals and families referred by the New York City HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA) and the remaining 102 units will be apartments for moderate-income households. The Part-Time Resident Manager is responsible for the supervision of the residents and the overall operation of the facility during designated shifts. They will work collaboratively with the Clinical team and the Program Director to ensure that resident needs are being met as well as the safety of the facility. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills along with experience working with the HIV/AIDS population. The part-time shifts we are looking to cover are: Saturdays and Sundays 9 am to 9 pm OR 9 pm to 9 am.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED, some college preferred
  • At least two years of experience working in a social service, residential setting
  • Working knowledge of HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, mental illness, and homelessness
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Computer efficient – internet and Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Fire Safety certification is preferred (F-02 or F-80)

Responsibilities

  • Function as a liaison between the residents and the staff
  • Collaborate with the security staff during his/her tour of duty to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents
  • Perform hourly patrols through the facility
  • Manage any challenging situations and crises that may occur at the facility
  • Responsible for handling any incidents that may occur at the facility and completing an Incident Report form, as needed
  • Communicate noteworthy events to the Program Director and the Clinical team as well as document them in the appropriate logbook
  • Attend all mandatory staff meetings
  • Ensure all aspects of the Fire Alarm System (FAS) are working properly and are up to code with FDNY
  • Visually inspect and document all components of the FAS
  • Other duties as assigned
