About The Position

EllisDon’s construction technology team is looking for a Researcher, Construction Technology. This team is composed of Full-Stack Developers, Data Analysts, UX Designers, Product Owners, and IT Operations, and is expanding rapidly. The team also includes experts in digital modeling and BIM, working with cutting-edge technology on large-scale projects. As a software development studio of over 140 people, backed by a major construction firm with a 70-year history and over $5 billion in annual work, they focus on developing software solutions for real-world challenges in Canada's largest construction projects. Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in a research, project management or analysis role within the construction industry or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience conducting research and analyzing data to inform business decisions.
  • Experience in capturing, analyzing, and illustrating process flows to identify efficiencies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly and effectively communicate research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of visual tools like Figma, Miro or MS Visio, as well as Excel, MS Project and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of construction technology and products, with a deep understanding of emerging trends and industry developments is an asset.
  • Experience with Agile Scrum/Kanban processes, and work management tools: JIRA, Confluence is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on technology and products within the global construction industry, including emerging trends, new products, and industry developments.
  • Facilitate requirements gathering sessions.
  • Document and validate results with subject matter experts and drive the creation of strong system specifications that enable the development and/or acquisition of appropriate systems to meet business requirements.
  • Compile research findings into reports, presentations, and other materials that can be used to inform business decisions and strategy.
  • Collaborate with other teams within the organization to ensure that research findings are integrated into overall business strategy and product development efforts.
  • Stay informed on industry news and trends to build a strong understanding of the competitive landscape.
  • Work closely with the product development team and support implementation planning for new technologies.
