About The Position

Under general direction, carry out experimental design for sponsored research projects, including compilation and analysis of data generated. This role involves performing routine and complex experiments, managing lab inventory and supplies, preparing media, and maintaining cell cultures using various techniques. The Research Technologist II will participate in meetings with the principal investigator and research staff, evaluate and interpret data validity, and oversee daily lab operations in the absence of a supervisor or Principal Investigator. The position also supports the development and implementation of research protocols, records and compiles accurate experimental results, and assists in evaluating experimental data and assay quality control. Additionally, the role includes operating, calibrating, and performing routine maintenance on specialized research equipment.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and records management.
  • Data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1 year of experience

  • Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine and complex experiments.
  • Monitor inventory and order lab supplies; carry out assigned duties for ordering, maintaining supply of inventory.
  • Prepare media and maintain cells by various culturing in techniques.
  • Participate in meetings with principal investigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret the validity of data as needed.
  • Oversee daily lab operation in the absence of the supervisor or Principle Investigator.
  • Assist in development and implementation of research protocols.
  • Record and compile accurate records and communicate summaries of experimental results.
  • Help evaluate, interpret, and assess experimental data and quality control of assays.
  • Operate, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment used in research.
  • Other duties as assigned.
