About The Position

The Department of Plant Science in the College of Agricultural Sciences is hiring a Research Technologist. The Research Technologist will conduct molecular analysis of maize genetic stocks carrying insertion of endogenous DNA transposons into genes of interest. This position is funded for 1 year(s); continuation past 1 year(s) will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education.
• Valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Optimization and application of PCR based genotyping protocols.
• Selection and management of stocks and provision of stocks to other members of the project team.
• Maize field genetics and support of the project team in seed preparation and planting of genetics fields.
• Conduct field and greenhouse characterization of maize stocks including microscopic and molecular evaluation of arbuscular mycorrhizal colonization.
