About The Position

The Monell Chemical Senses Center is a world-renowned non-profit research institute, and a global leader dedicated to advancing knowledge about the senses of taste, smell, and related senses and translating its discoveries into real-world advances in policy, practice, and behavior. Monell is located in the heart of the vibrant educational and life sciences hub of Philadelphia. The Lim lab is seeking a full-time Research Technician. The starting date would be June 1, 2026, but can be flexible. The scientist in this role will work with a dynamic project team to execute experiments measuring perceptual, behavioral and metabolic responses to carbohydrates and carbohydrate containing foods.

Requirements

  • B.A. or B.S. in Behavioral Science, Biological Science, Neuroscience, Nutrition, Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field
  • One to two years of laboratory research experience
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage ongoing and new projects
  • Ability to follow research protocols meticulously and maintain accurate and detailed records
  • Ability to instruct research participants clearly to ensure accurate and reliable data collection
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively multidisciplinary teams
  • Professional and effective interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm, initiative, flexibility, and a strong interest in research
  • Familiarity with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with human subject research is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling team meetings
  • Maintaining stocks and purchasing research supplies
  • Recruiting and scheduling human research participants
  • Preparing samples for tasting
  • Executing psychophysical tests following specified protocols
  • Record keeping/data entry
  • Communicating results to the project team
