About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Services Professional to join the Wang Lab in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. The Wang Lab is R01 funded. The applicant will be strongly supported in their pursuit of both academic and industry careers. The research will focus on a project at the intersection of RNA biology, cancer biology, and virology. Experience in molecular biology, data analysis, and tissue culture is required. The Wang laboratory is currently studying: The role of endogenous and viral derived circular RNAs in the pathogenesis of the head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (focus of position) and Glucose transport and metabolism and its role in melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
  • An advanced degree (master’s or PhD) may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis if the degree is in a field of study directly related to the work assignment.
  • Experience in data analysis
  • One (1) year professional level research experience which includes experience in molecular biology (for Intermediate Professional)
  • Two (2) years’ professional level research experience which includes experience in molecular biology (for Senior Professional)
  • Advanced knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information
  • Knowledge of federal regulations
  • Willingness to work in teams
  • Excellence in writing, reading, and communicating
  • Ability to independently execute research protocols
  • Highly motivated, eager to learn, taking initiative and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Great organizational skills and record keeping abilities

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
  • Experience with scientific research writing.
  • Three (3) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Tissue culture (including work with lentiviruses)
  • Molecular biology (including work with DNA, RNA, and proteins)
  • Experiments with archived human tissues (IHC, ISH)
  • Transfection or knockdown/knockout of genes, generation of stable clones.
  • Design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments
  • Analyze and interpret data
  • Summarize data for weekly discussions, lab meetings, departmental meetings, and national/international conference
