About The Position

As an important member of the research team, the Research Services Laboratory Sciences Professional will support the Associate Professor, with basic science research in the topic area of “PD-L1 regulation during liver disease and homeostasis.” This position is accountable for meeting study-specific goals and timelines, while also performing and assisting with research tasks. This position communicates appropriately and effectively with investigators and other team members, has outstanding customer service skills, and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Requirements

  • Entry Level: Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, immunology, chemistry, genetics or related field.
  • Intermediate Level: Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, immunology, chemistry, genetics or related field.
  • One (1) year professional level research experience.
  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Proficient knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, medical terminology.
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory.
  • Experience with human cell/tissue culture.
  • Experience with standard molecular biology techniques including RNA isolation, tissue staining, flow cytometry.
  • Experience with mouse handling, drug delivery techniques, breeding, and dissection/necropsy.

Responsibilities

  • Technical laboratory work related to immunology and molecular biology including biochemical analysis, quantitative PCR, cell culture, flow cytometry, western blot, cloning, mouse handling and dissection.
  • Utilizing specialized knowledge and sophisticated research techniques examining liver immunology.
  • Implementation of schedule methodology, timeline, and lab book.
  • Collecting, recording, analyzing, and presenting data, development and writing of manuscripts and presentations.
  • Assisting with general lab tasks and lab maintenance.
  • Assist faculty with development and writing of research protocols.
  • Meeting with the project Principal Investigator on a weekly basis for the purpose of progress updates and mentoring.
