About The Position

Anduril’s Research Scientists develop advanced algorithms and software to solve scientific problems with real-world applications. They work in small, innovative teams, and their research is considered complete when technology is deployed in mission-critical systems and helps government and industry customers succeed. The Research Scientist, Battlespace Awareness, contributes expertise and ideas to a small team, develops mathematically principled solutions to challenging information-science problems, prototypes advanced algorithms, and implements high-performance software ranging from tactical systems to web applications. The role also uses high-fidelity modeling and simulation, analysis tools, and compute clusters to quantify technology benefits, engages with customers to support mission-critical outcomes, and explains technical work clearly to colleagues and customers. Applicants should have a strong academic record and a relevant M.S. or Ph.D. The role calls for expertise across applied mathematics, engineering, scientific computing, and probability, as well as effective written and verbal communication. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance. Transcripts are requested early in the application process; candidates who do not provide them must give detailed information about relevant coursework, projects, and academic performance. Unofficial online transcripts are acceptable, and non-technical information may be redacted. The estimated U.S. base salary range is $167,000–$222,000. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers. Anduril also offers a competitive benefits package, described as available at little to no cost to employees; specific benefits are not listed in this posting.

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Applied or Computational Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Controls and Dynamical Systems, Aerospace Engineering, Statistics and Probability, or a related field.
  • Record of academic excellence, with demonstrated experience in most of the following areas: applied mathematics (differential equations, linear algebra, numerical analysis, and continuous or discrete optimization); engineering (controls, estimation theory, digital signal processing, and machine learning); scientific computing (software design, algorithm implementation, and software analysis, testing, and optimization); and probability (statistics and random processes).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey salient details about advanced technology compellingly to both experts and non-experts.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret SCI security clearance.
  • Provide academic transcripts or, if not providing transcripts, detailed information about academic performance in relevant courses, including projects and coursework specifics. Unofficial online transcripts are acceptable.
