About The Position

The Research Project Manager within Comprehensive Integrated Research Operations (CIRO) coordinates research operations for multiple study teams and supports the completion of project milestones. This role supports standardized research processes, training activities, and compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, institutional policies, and applicable regulatory requirements. The position coordinates project activities among investigators, study teams, sponsors, and institutional stakeholders; monitors project timelines, budgets, and reporting requirements; and supports the implementation of operational processes across the research enterprise.

Requirements

  • Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) OR Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP)
  • Nine (9) years of experience in clinical research, research administration, or clinical research operations. Relevant education may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation and operational guidance to study teams to resolve research-related logistical and operational challenges.
  • Manage assigned research portfolios by monitoring project timelines, milestones, budgets, deliverables, and resource utilization to ensure successful study execution.
  • Support the planning, implementation, and coordination of clinical research projects, including multi-site and multidisciplinary studies.
  • Coordinate activities among investigators, study teams, research administration, sponsors, contract research organizations (CROs), pharmacies, laboratories, and institutional partners to facilitate effective communication and project execution.
  • Support CIRO operations, including management of departmental research space, facilities planning, and operational initiatives.
  • Participate in institutional research committees and operational workgroups, providing recommendations for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of standard operating procedures (SOPs), workflows, and operational processes to promote consistency, regulatory compliance, and quality.
  • Monitor project progress, identify operational risks or barriers, and work with study teams to develop and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Conduct regular project and portfolio reviews with study teams to monitor financial projections, staffing needs, personnel effort, and overall project status.
  • Coordinate internal meetings and provide day-to-day operational support to clinical research teams.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, orientation, and training activities for clinical research staff.
  • Coordinate study start-up activities, including IRB submissions, contract execution, ancillary approvals, credentialing, research informatics requirements, and other institutional processes.
  • Serve as a departmental liaison during internal and external audits and support corrective action planning and implementation as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, enhance efficiency, and promote adherence to institutional, sponsor, and regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor and support research staff by promoting best practices, standardized processes, and continuous professional development.
  • Coordinate day-to-day operational activities for assigned clinical research studies to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with protocol, sponsor requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Provide operational guidance to study teams throughout the clinical trial lifecycle, including study start-up, implementation, monitoring, and closeout.
  • Collaborate with principal investigators, study teams, external research sites, sponsors, and institutional partners to support successful study execution.
  • Coordinate project activities across departments and collaborating institutions to ensure timely completion of study milestones.
  • Support study teams in meeting study start-up timelines by coordinating required regulatory, contractual, and operational activities.
  • Monitor study performance through quality oversight activities, including protocol compliance, participant recruitment and retention, data quality, regulatory documentation, and study progress.
  • Support development and review of study budgets, coverage analyses, clinical trial management system calendars, and other project management tools.
  • Perform clinical research duties, as needed, to support study operations at any level from Clinical Research Assistant through Clinical Research Supervisor, including participant assessments, informed consent, specimen processing, and protocol-required study procedures.
  • Assist study teams with maintenance of regulatory documentation, study files, training documentation, protocol deviation reporting, and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) planning.
  • Provide operational support across clinical research functions, as needed, to maintain continuity of research activities and meet departmental priorities.
