About The Position

The Rehabilitation Sciences Sector (RSS) in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine is a world leader in the delivery of rehabilitation sciences health professional programs and research. The RSS is comprised of four essential departments: Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy (OSOT), Department of Physical Therapy (PT), Rehabilitation Sciences Institute (RSI), and the Department of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP). Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the incumbent will support research related initiatives as part of an internationally recognized Canada Research Chair Program in Traumatic Brain Injury in Underserved Populations within the Acquired Brain Injury Research Lab in the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy and KITE Research Institute-UHN. You will implement qualitative and quantitative research methods, conduct literature/systematic reviews, manage research data, and draft manuscripts, reports, grant materials, and prepare presentations, ethics submissions; and be responsible for the overall operations of the lab. As Research Operations Officer, you will coordinate project activities and events, collaborate with internal and external partners, and contribute to knowledge translation initiatives, including website administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Minimum two years supporting research initiatives in a research lab in an academic or equivalent environment
  • Demonstrated experience implementing qualitative and quantitative research methods and conducting literature reviews including systematic reviews
  • Experience collecting, organizing, analyzing, interpreting, validating, and accurately presenting research data
  • Experience drafting research reports, summaries, presentations, manuscripts, and other written materials for publication
  • Experience supporting grant administration, including monitoring applications, deadlines, sponsor requirements, records, and progress reports
  • Experience preparing and submitting Research Ethics Board applications, procedures, or related documentation
  • Experience coordinating meetings, workshops, seminars, conferences, or other partner events
  • Experience communicating with diverse partners/collaborators and collaborating on research processes, outputs, and knowledge-translation activities
  • Experience handling confidential or sensitive information while maintaining accurate records and following established research protocols
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Excel), learning and content management systems (WordPress), survey tools, qualitative and quantitative methodologies and virtual meeting platforms, and social media platforms
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with equity-based considerations
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills, with an ability to exercise good judgment and discretion
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and also collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent time management, prioritization and organization skills

Responsibilities

  • Conducting qualitative and quantitative research, including literature reviews, data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Supporting research ethics submissions, data management, manuscript preparation, and knowledge translation activities
  • Providing grant administration support by tracking funding and award opportunities, deadlines, applications, records, and progress reports
  • Coordinating meetings, workshops, seminars, and conferences, including scheduling, materials, logistics, communications, and expenses
  • Serving as a resource for colleagues and partners/collaborators while managing inquiries, supplies, finances, records, and routine administrative tasks
