About The Position

The Department of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC is seeking a Research Lab Tech II to join the laboratory of Dr. Francesca Mariani. This position will assist with facilitating one of Dr. Mariani’s research programs on cellular and molecular coordinators of large-scale bone repair. The Research Lab Tech II will provide basic technical assistance to other laboratory members in conducting research experiments and conducts standardized tests and procedures under close supervision.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree, Specialized/technical training, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
  • 2 years experience
  • Working knowledge of laboratory equipment and research protocols.
  • Knowledge of computer analysis techniques and ability to provide routine analysis and interpretation of research data.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts research experiments in accordance with laboratory and safety protocols.
  • Collects laboratory measurements and data.
  • Computes results for a variety of research procedures, tests and techniques.
  • Maintains mouse research colony and performs small animal surgery in accordance with animal use protocols.
  • Assists with protocol approvals.
  • Maintains accurate records of procedures used to conduct experiments.
  • Uses laboratory/computer equipment to conduct analyses of experiment data.
  • Provides routine interpretations of analyses.
  • Assists in maintaining laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains chemical inventory, prepares chemical solutions for experimental use, and coordinates appropriate disposal.
  • Conducts library research to assist in the planning and design of experiments.
  • Learns basic laboratory safety and, if appropriate, basic radiation or blood borne pathogen safety under the direction of the USC Safety Office and more experienced laboratory staff.
  • Assists lab members with obtaining these trainings.
