About The Position

The Research Intern will join an interdisciplinary team of neuropsychologists, neurologists, geriatricians, and clinical researchers focused on aging and Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD). The internship provides an opportunity to observe and develop basic skills across clinical, translational, and other research activities. Interns receive direct supervision from an assigned Postdoctoral Scientist, senior-level Research Associate, and/or Principal Investigator, along with basic research instruction, orientation to the Institutional Review Board and human-subjects training, and exposure to research practices and techniques. The internship typically lasts no more than twelve months. The intern will participate in the Goldrich Observational ADRD Longitudinal studies, including the GOAL Study, which aims to establish a longitudinal cohort across the ADRD continuum, and the RAPID study, which uses brief cognitive testing and relevant questionnaires. The intern will gain foundational experience in informed consent, human-subjects protection, clinical cohort study design, community-based participatory research, REDCap data management, basic statistical analyses, hypothesis development, and abstract writing. The intern will develop and implement a clinical research project using existing datasets and produce an abstract for possible submission to a local or national research conference. The program includes a staged learning plan covering human-subjects training and research ethics; study-design and protocol review; community-engaged research and neurodegenerative diseases; observation of clinical research procedures and outreach events; cognitive assessment practice; data coding and quality assurance; hypothesis generation and testing; basic statistics; and abstract writing. Mentorship in clinical trial design, implementation, data management, statistics, and abstract writing is provided throughout. The role is per diem and on-site. Interns participating for academic credit must receive academic credit for the duration of the internship.
