About The Position

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking two talented and highly motivated part-time Support and Applications Interns to join Research Computing, a unit within UFIT. The interns will assist the RC Support and Services Team with developing support-focused internal CLI tools, databases, web applications, and APIs, as well as support request triage, application installation, reference data management, and other Tier 1 user support activities on the HiPerGator supercomputer. The internship location is the New Physics Building on the main campus.

Requirements

• MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE
• UF Student Assistant
• This position is open to all students eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
• OPS Intern
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Strong communication skills
• Familiarity with Linux and command-line use
• Research or programming experience in a variety of programming languages; Python knowledge is required
• HiPerGator use experience

Responsibilities

• Development of support-related scripts/tools/databases/web applications
• Installation, troubleshooting, and HPC adaptation of research applications on HiPerGator
• Support service request triage
• Basic HPC user support via the ticketing system and Slack
