About The Position

The Department of Neurosurgery is seeking a Research Collaborator to assist Dr. Kevin Lillehei with the collation and analysis of clinical data accumulated within the multi-disciplinary Pituitary Program over several decades. This position will require the individual to review clinical data, perform analysis, and independently review its importance with regard to clinical impact. Functions will include assistance, and often the lead, in manuscript preparation and submission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Computer Science or related field
  • An advanced degree (MD, Masters or PhD) may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis if the degree is in a field of study directly related to the work assignment.
  • 10+ years of statistical information data entry.
  • Effective communication in verbal communication and written format.
  • Ability to organize and manage time independently of a supervisor.
  • Ability to log and track hours independently of any supervisory requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Expert knowledge of basic statistical principles relevant in medical research.
  • Expert ability to analyze and solve complex problems and apply quantitative analytical approaches.
  • Familiarity with statistical analytical concepts and methods.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology medical terminology.
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.
  • Expert level knowledge of Neuroscience process, function and/or technology.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous CU Employee, knowledge of CU system, applications, and policies.
  • MD degree in a field directly related to the work assignment, with a working knowledge of Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Computer Science or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with and support clinical and research personnel, and other stakeholders, within the Pituitary Program.
  • Perform scientifically rigorous data management and bioinformatic analyses.
  • Develop and disseminate a variety of tools designed to access relevant clinical and sample data.
  • Creatively and effectively integrate data from multiple sources to accelerate discoveries.
  • Independently and creatively identify bioinformatic and data management solutions.
  • Provide the biostatistical/data science expertise and leadership in study design, study oversight, data management, data analysis and manuscript preparation to assist all levels of biomedical investigators and clinicians on new research activities across a wide range of disciplines.
  • Serve as a resource to PIs and other stakeholders.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert and authority in the area(s) of Neurosciences.
  • New grant application data analysis for clinical trial design and power calculations.
  • Additional grant and publication assistance as needed.
